Since I had very little time today, I prepared this quick version of Aluchi Vadi. It has the same delicious traditional taste but is much easier and faster to make. Ingredients (1 cup = 150 ml) *Washed & finely chopped colocasia (taro) leaves, – 2 cups *Tamarind – a lemon-sized piece *Gram flour (besan) – 1 cup *Rice flour – ½ cup *Red chilli powder – 3 teaspoons *Salt – 1½ teaspoons *Sugar – 1 teaspoon *Coriander powder – 3 teaspoons *Carom seeds (ajwain) – ¼ teaspoon *Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon *White sesame seeds – 1 tablespoon Method 1. This is the typical maharashtrian breakfast dish . A different version of Upma.
One of my families favourite breakfast. We have simple nashta...so this is very quick n tasty version...
This tastes yummyyy even after 5..6 hours also. Can be prepared with very few ingredients.
Some places this is also called as "Tikhat mithacha Shira".
INGREDIANTS. ..
*Semolina/ Upma Rava...1 Cup
*Water...2 Cups
*Sour Curd..3/4 the Cup
*Oil....1.1/4 tbsp.
*Udad dal...2 tsp
*Curry leaves...10..12
*Mustard & Cumin Seeds...1/4 tsp each
*Asafoetida Powder...a big pinch
*Turmeric...1/4tsp
*Red Chilli Powder...3/4 tsp
*Salt...1 tsp
*Grated Coconut...1 tbsp
*Chopped Coriander...1 tbsp
Method. ..
*Heat oil in a pan...add Mustard & Cumin...when it splutters add Udad dal n Asafoetida powder.
*When dal turns little red n release aroma add Semolina...saute it on low flame for 3..4 mts.
*Add Turmeric and Red Chilli Powder n Curry leaves. ...again saute it till Semolina release aroma or becomes lighter to saute.
*Add sour Curd n Salt...mix properly. ..add Water...stir continuously. ..mix properly...
*Cover with the lid n let it cook for 3..4 mts on low flame.
*Done...serve with grated Coconut n Coriander.
*It tastes yummy when cool also.
