Hyacinth Beans Usal
Hyacinth Beans are available from the beginning of October.
The beans tastes better in Spicy Usal, Masala Rice or also in Baingan/Brinjal Bharit.
We prepare Pakoda also.
It is also called as "Popat" or "Pawta" in some regions.
This goes very well with Jawar or Bajra Roti.
Ingredients...
*Hyacinth Beans...1 Cup
1 Cup.... 150 ml
*Onion... 1
*Tomato...2
*Grated Ginger...1 tsp
*Green Chillies...3
*Poppy seeds...1 tsp
*Oil... 6 tbspn
*Chopped Coriander...1 tbspn
*Grated Coconut...1 tbspn
*Goda Masala...1 tsp
*Mustard Seeds...1/2 tsp
*Cumin seeds...1/4 tsp
*Fenugreek seeds...7..8
*Coriander Powder...1 tsp
*Red Chilli Powder...1 tsp
*Salt...1 tsp
*Jaggery... Lemon size
Method...
*Cook Hyacinth Beans by adding one Cup water in the Pressure Cooker for one whistle on medium flame.
*Chopp Tomatoes & Onion.
*Heat Oil in a pan, add Mustard, Cumin and Fenugreek seeds, let it splutter.
*After it splutters add Turmeric n one tsp chopped Coriander. Saute for 2..3 minutes.
*Add Poppy seeds, Red Chilli Powder, grated Ginger n Onion.
*Saute for five minutes on medium flame.
*Add Tomatoes, Goda Masala and Salt. Saute for 2..3 minutes.
*Add cooked Hyacinth Beans, Jaggery n Coriander Seeds Powder.
Saute for 3..4 minutes.
*Add 1 Cup water, n let it cook for 3..4 minutes.
*Switch off the gas.
*Add chopped Coriander.
*Serve hot with Jawar or Bajra Roti, Rice, Wheat Roti.

Note...
I have used home made Goda Masala. You can use Kpra or any other brands available. You can skip also, but taste will differ a bit.

पावट्याची उसळ
ऑक्टोबर महिन्यापासून बाजारात पावट्याच्या शेंगा मिळायला लागतात.  सोललेले पावट्याचे दाणे पण मिळतात  किंवा घरी आणून त्याच्या शेंगा सोलून दाणे काढून ठेवतात.
मग पावट्याची  झणझणीत उसळ, पावटे घालून मसालेभात, पावटे घालून पोहे असे विविध प्रकार बनायला लागतात... एवढेच काय पावट्याचे खमंग वडे सुद्धा करतात😋😋
विदर्भात विशेषतः नागपूरला त्याला पोपटचे दाणे केव्हा पोपटच्या शेंगा पण म्हणतात.
ह्या पोपटीच्या दाण्यांची झणझणीत उसळ व भाकरी या थंडीच्या दिवसात अफलातून लागते...😋😋
आज पाहूया पोपटीच्या केव्हा पावट्याच्या दाण्याची उसळ...
साहित्य
*पोपटी/पावट्याचे चे दाणे... एक वाटी
1 वाटी.... 150 मिली.
*कांदा ... एक
*टमाटे... दोन
*आले कीस... एक टीस्पून
*हिरव्या मिरच्या ... तीन
*खसखस ...एक टीस्पून
*तेल ...6 टेबल स्पून
*कोथिंबीर चिरून... एक टेबल स्पून
*खोबरे कीस ...एक टेबल स्पून
*गोडा मसाला... एक टिस्पून
*मोहरी... अर्धा टीस्पून
*जिरे ..पाव टीस्पून
*मेथीदाणे.. सात..आठ
*धने पावडर... 1 टिस्पून
*तिखट... एक टीस्पून
*मीठ ... एक टिस्पून
*गूळ ...छोट्या लिंबाएवढा खडा
कृती..
*पोपटी चे दाणे एक वाटी पाणी घालून कुकरमध्ये एक प्रेशर येईपर्यंत शिजवून घ्या गार होऊ द्या.
*कांदे व  टमाटे बारीक चिरून घ्या.
*एका भांड्यात तेल तापवून मोहरी, मेथी दाणे, व जिरे घालून फोडणी करून घ्या.
*नंतर त्यात हळद व एक टीस्पून कोथिंबीर घाला ,कोथिंबीर खमंग परतला गेला कि खसखस, तिखट, आले कीस, हिरवी मिरची, खोबरे कीस व कांदा घाला. 
*कांदा मऊ झाला की त्यात  टमाटे,गोडा मसाला, मीठ  घालून तीन-चार मिनिटे परता. 
*शिजवलेले पावट्याचे दाणे ,गुळ व धने पावडर पण घाला, मिश्रण खमंग होईपर्यंत तीन चार मिनिटे परतून घ्या.
*आपल्याला हवे तेवढे पाणी घालून रस्सा करून  घ्या.
*नंतर कोथिंबीर घालून गरम गरम  सर्व्ह करा.
*ही उसळ गरम-गरम ज्वारीची अथवा बाजरीची भाकरी ,पोळी किंवा भातासोबत सुद्धा चवदार लागते.
